A new season
This is my farewell-for-now newsletter. It's the 15th newsletter in as many months since my first one last August, and I feel happy that I've been writing them for that long. I know 15 months isn't that long a run compared to the output of many, but for me it feels like a good, satisfying innings.
I've got two more songs coming up for release which I would like to tell you about in this one, and that will make a total of 15 releases to date.
The new songs are 'Put Out The Fire' and 'Side Streets'. They are quite different from each other.
Put Out The Fire
My inspiration for Put Out The Fire came from my hunch that the way humans have been consuming in recent times has been creating fiery trouble for much of life on earth, and that this fiery trouble may worsen into a nightmarish legacy for life yet to be born.
I tread lightly, calling it my 'hunch', since I know plenty of folk won't share this view, seeing no compelling evidence for man-made climate change. In fact my viewpoint has evolved recently to have a different nuance from the one that drove the song. I now intuit that the best way forward through any fiery times of trouble will centre on people improving their ability to dialogue constructively, even if it's heated dialogue between people who see the world very differently. It makes me glad of the name Dialogic - 'of dialogue'.
When performing Put Out The Fire now, I hold in mind the fire caused by incendiary division between people, as much as any fire caused by man-made climate change. The way to put out this fire lies not in coercing people who think differently, but in bridging divides. This doesn't mean aiming for homogeneity or extinguishing the inevitable heat of divided opinions rubbing up against each other, but rather reaching out for common ground, shared humanity, differences and all.
Side Streets
Side Streets is a more dreamy offering, with tones of lost-ness and longing (as I sometimes feel in contexts of division - see above, to join things together). But
the dull ache of feeling lost is intermingled with shards of hope, and spoiler alert, hope prevails. Side Streets feels like a nice way to wrap up this cluster of releases which I've been working on in recent months.
Venture
In closing this chapter of my musical output, I'm going to bundle the two new songs, along with eight of my other favourite recordings, into an album which I will call 'Venture'. The name evokes something in me that fits just right. I hope that anyone who comes across it and has a listen may get some similar positive resonance. We've all got our unique, fleeting lives, but isn't it great when we find ourselves resonating to the same frequency - fully different people, but somehow still in sync with each other.
I haven't got a release date yet for Venture - the two new songs are still in the final stages of the production mill - but I hope it will be towards the beginning of next month. I'll announce it on social media, and as a last message (for now) to anyone on my email list, I'll ping you an email to say it's out.

Thank You
As I 'go dark' for a while and hunker down into my song-writing cave, I'd like to thank all of you who have been alongside, with your support, interest, and general kindness over the last months, all of which has been invaluable for my creative efforts in the studio. I thrive on my solo cave time, but that wouldn't be the case if I didn't have a felt sense of connection with my people out there. I very much appreciate being with you, out there, as and when we cross paths. I look forward, in time, to sharing some more offerings from the cave.
Thank you, and all the best,
Tom aka Dialogic
